In Buddhist and Hindu texts, Mahakala is the God of Time, Maya, Creation, Destruction and Power. In Sanskrit his name literally means 'beyond time and death'. In Tibetan texts it is said that his name means 'Great Black One'. He is the Great Protector of Dharma - the  cosmic law underlying right behavior and social order and moral law governing individual conduct.

He is always depicted as a fierce and terrifying deity, looking like a demon, but he is more like a guard dog or a really tough guardian angel. His fierceness and aggression is needed  to demolish obstacles and negativities one faces on the path to enlightenment. He is Protector Deity in the highest form.

This is pure incense, with no stick. It is best to burn in a bed of sand or it can be pushed into the soil of a plant.

These incense are handmade in Nepal and are purchased through a Fair Trade organization that works with marginalized individuals in Nepal (eg: women & Tibetan refugees).
