Self-Lighting Charcoal Discs provide a convenient heat source for burning loose incense materials that cannot be lit on their own. Available in your choice of 33mm or 40mm discs, each package contains 10 charcoal tablets suitable for resins, bakhoor, loose incense blends, incense powders, and appropriate dried botanicals.

What Are Charcoal Discs Used For?

Unlike incense sticks and cones, materials such as frankincense resin, myrrh, copal, bakhoor, and many loose incense blends need a separate heat source to release their aroma. A hot charcoal disc provides that heat, allowing you to place a small amount of aromatic material directly on top and add more as needed.

• 33mm Charcoal Discs – A compact option for smaller burners or smaller amounts of loose incense
• 40mm Charcoal Discs – A larger surface for burners that accommodate a 40mm disc or when more heating area is preferred

How to Light Self-Lighting Charcoal

1. Place the charcoal disc in a suitable charcoal incense burner on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
2. Using tongs, carefully ignite the edge of the disc with a lighter or match.
3. The self-lighting charcoal will begin to spark and ignite across the surface.
4. Allow the disc to heat fully before adding incense. The surface will begin developing a light gray ash as it becomes ready for use.
5. Place a small amount of resin, bakhoor, loose incense, or other suitable aromatic material on top of the hot charcoal.
6. Add additional incense sparingly as desired.

Safety

For incense use only. Charcoal becomes extremely hot and must be used only in a burner specifically designed to safely hold burning charcoal. Always place the burner on a stable, nonflammable, heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated area. Use tongs when handling or lighting charcoal. Never touch a burning or recently extinguished disc with bare hands. Never leave hot charcoal unattended. Keep away from children, pets, drafts, and flammable materials. Charcoal may remain hot long after visible burning has stopped; allow the disc, ash, and burner to cool completely before handling or disposal. Never use in an enclosed or poorly ventilated space.
