The Wheel of the Year is essentially a Wiccan calendar. Practically, it provides a common chronology and serves as a collective ritual structure for all Wiccans. The Wheel of the Year is a physical representation of the eight pagan festivals that celebrate nature’s life cycles. These eight Sabbats include four solar events — two solstices and two equinoxes — and four cross-quarter events.
4 cross-quarter (fire) holidays:
Imbolc (February 1st) for spring
Beltane (May 1st) for summer
Lammas (August 1st) for autumn
Samhain (October 31st) for winter
4 quarter-point (solar) holidays:
Spring equinox – Ostara (20th – 23rd March)
Summer solstice (20th – 23rd June)
Autumn equinox (20th – 23rd September)
Winter solstice – Yule (20th – 23rd December)
